And a Child Shall Lead Them

Rookie goaltenders have had success in the Stanley Cup Playoffs before – most notably with Ken Dryden in 1971 and Patrick Roy in 1986, both leading the Montreal Canadiens to the Cup – but never before has a crop of  rookie goalies dominated the playoffs like they have this season.

Of the five remaining teams in this year’s playoffs, three are led by rookie goalies and another by a first-year starter.  Carolina’s Cam Ward, Buffalo’s Ryan Miller, Anaheim’s Ilya Bryzgalov, and San Jose’s Vesa Toskala have all enjoyed incredible playoff success thus far.

Seven-year veteran Dwayne Roloson of the Edmonton Oilers, who was acquired in a mid-season trade with the Minnesota Wild, is the only experienced goaltender left.  I don’t think anyone would have predicted that, especially with the presence of such big-name goalies as Martin Brodeur and Miikka Kiprusoff, and other veteran backstops or  NHL powerhouses like Detroit’s Manny

Look out for Detroit, Ottawa in Stanley Cup Playoffs

History is on the side of the Red Wings, about 4-1 in a consensus of several sportsbooks odds-makers. Of 21 trips to the finals, the team has carried home the cup 10 times. The Senators, 5-1, have captured the cup only once: 1926-27.

Detroit posted the NHL’s best record, 58-16, successfully blending an aging core of players and a stellar group of youngsters. But the Red Wings must dispose of early round foes quickly so they can survive a possible grueling seven-game war in the finals.

Leader Steve Yzerman is playing like he did when the team won back-to-back cups starting in 1996-97.

His 1,300th career point in the playoffs boosted him to second all-time on the team. Experiencing his first championship, the center was third in overall playoff points. The following year, the longtime Red Wings captain, 40, led playoff scoring with 24 points.

Nicklas Lidstrom, maybe the top NHL defenseman, dominates with quick puck movement and

IJango – how to network market Google

Ijango USA

Friday night saw the debut from another exoteric declaration from Jay-Z: “You rappers singing a bit much/ return to rap, you T-Pain-ing too much/ I’m a multi-millionaire/ So how am I the most backbreaking n—a here?”

Upon New York’s Hot 97 radio post, Jay premiered afresh song from his approaching Blueprint 3 LP called, “D.O.A.,” or “The Death of Auto-Tune.”

“This is anti-Auto-Tune, demise of the Ringtone,” Hov starts rapping over a track co-produced through Kanye West and No I.D. Hard beats and horns glare as Jay arouses figures of a black John Dillinger holding a fuming Tommy Gun, making a chump ignorant enough to stand in his way. Jay is back to shoot down biting MCs.

“This ain’t for iTunes, this ain’t for singalongs,” he raps afterward in the song. “This is Frank Sinatra at the opera, get a blonde … My raps don’t bear melodies/ It should make jackers commit felonies/ This ain’t a #1 record, this is

The Best Ncaa Basketball Coaches!

The best NCAA College Basketball Coaches have the uncanny ability to get their players motivated for “Big” games and throughout the entire season. Here’s a list of some of NCAA basketball’s best coaches:

John Thompson- coached the mighty Georgetown Hoyas (“Hoya Paranoia”) to multiple NCAA championships, and 2 of the most dominant centers in NCAA and NBA history; Patrick Ewing and Alonzo Mourning. Coach John Thompson’s influence on the game of basketball is evident by his former player, Patrick Ewing’s induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Typically when a player is inducted into the Hall of Fame and included in the realms of such great basketball talent, it’s a direct reflection of their coach, such is the case with former Georgetown University Coach and former Boston Celtic- John

Spencer On Fire: Why Fireworks Are Banned In Iowa

Every 4th of July in Iowa you’re bound to here no end of complaining about the fact that one can’t legally buy firework within the state’s borders. If you know the sad, terrifying story of Spencer, Iowa the reason for this law becomes a bit clearer.

It was a sweltering 97 degrees on June 27th, 1931 in Spencer, Iowa. 100 people had already died that summer from the heat alone. It was dry, too; there hadn’t been a drop of rain in weeks and no one was expecting any for weeks to come.

The only thing the folks of Spencer had to look forward to was the 4th of July celebration, which would mark 165 years of American Independence from the British Crown by lighting up the warm summer skies with as many rockets as they could lay hands on.

Otto Bjornstad’s drug store was the epitome of the Iowan corner pharmacy; a Scandinavian-owned local business located on the corner of 4th and Main. If it were fiction it would be trite. Inside

Sufjan Stevens Seven Swans Pop Music CD Review

Seven Swans is the latest Pop CD put out by the extremely talented Sufjan Stevens who once again has delivered a brilliant collection of tracks. I’m confident Sufjan Stevens fans, and Pop fans alike will be pleased with this one.

Unfortunately, it’s not everyday that I get a CD from an artist that I can just pop in and comfortably listen to from beginning to end. There is usually a song or two that I just can’t force myself to get through. Not at all the case with Seven Swans. Every track is enjoyable and was pretty easy for me to listen to from start to finish.

Seven Swans has a pleasantly varied, mix of 12 tracks that are very well written songs by this clearly superb artist. With many of the songs displaying a lot of the kind emotion that makes for a really great listen. Seemingly drawing from what I can only imagine are him own personal experiences. At different points touching on the most real emotions like love, heartbreak,
